When should I be concerned about cramping during pregnancy?

Pregnancy FAQs

You may experience different types of cramping during pregnancy, including leg or abdominal cramps. Leg cramping occurs when there is acid build up in your muscles due to your muscles contracting tightly when they shouldn’t be. Stretching, soothing massage, and heat packs may help soothe restless leg muscles.

Abdominal cramping is generally considered normal as the uterus expands. However, if the abdominal cramps are severe, accompanied by heavy bleeding or other concerning symptoms, it is important to talk to your healthcare professional for proper evaluation and guidance.
